Description
M333 – These two well-polished buffalo horn maskettes / amulets make an interesting conversation piece. The artist worked expressive faces into this most difficult of mediums. He has carved also them leaving the natural curve of the horn.
Excellent examples of an age old craft still being created today in one of the few remaining bone and buffalo horn carving villages in the central highlands of West Timor.

I am Julie and have been collecting Timorese Treasures in the field since 1990 when I won a prize for overseas travel in a pub in Darwin [true]. I had no idea at the time that I had stumbled upon an Aladdin’s cave of authentic traditional tribal textiles and treasures. I have been returning annually ever since [well most years] and been witness to many changes across the last 3 decades. Read more about Timor and I in THE BIGGER PICTURE.
