Description
M763 – Dog –top section of the skull of which the snout has been trimmed off. The carver of this totem has decorated the skull with motifs traditional to Timorese tribal culture. Simplistic motif worked into this most difficult of mediums.
Skulls such as this are used by the Dukun or Shaman to bring about favourable circumstances for the crops and fertility of the village. Estimated age 20 years.

I had no idea at the time that I had stumbled upon an Aladdin’s cave of authentic traditional tribal textiles and treasures.
