M835 – A happy example of a contemporary hand carving from the highlands of West Timor. Created from red cedarwood / kayu merah the artist has embellished the shoulder space with a gecko and carved a neck band beneath its chin. Flat.

I had no idea at the time that I had stumbled upon an Aladdin’s cave of authentic traditional tribal textiles and treasures.
