Statues are not common in West Timor. There are very few old statues remaining and only a couple of carvers who create and recreate the ancestor figures of old. Some of the offerings here are buffalo horn tips or bone and others from wood. There are however, some contemporary carvers who delight in carving these fetish and effigies and sometimes I am fortunate to be on the island when they are offered.
