Whilst my focus for textiles has been West Timor, I have been blessed to have been able to travel to some of the surrounding islands and provinces. Alor in particular has an active weaving tradition with 2 special mama’s who encourage innovation particularly in natural colours. Their motifs are equally interesting and are true representations of what it means to live in their island homes.
I have only a few textiles from East Timor, Roti and Sabu, I present them here for your consideration.
