Accessorising your weaving plays an important role in the Timorese weaving wearing tradition. Sashes or ikat pinggang [to tie your kidneys!] make a unique and colourful addition to mens blankets and are used to create a pad when carrying pots of water on your head up from the well or river.
Sometimes elaborately presented but always with traditional kaif motif that tells of the weavers clan embellishing the body of the sash we sometimes find kelim interspersed with the buna technique used.
